This is a message from Northamptonshire West Police to all residents living in central Northampton.
On Saturday 12 September, about 18.50, a distraction burglary occurred at a property in Portland Place Northampton, whereby an elderly lady was a victim of two, possibly foreign, males who stated they were from the water board and that water was leaking from the flat above. There were signs of disturbance in the bedroom although it is currently unknown whether anything was taken.
Please circulate this message to all NHW members and neighbours especially those who are vulnerable in order to raise the awareness of this type of offence. Also to remind them that there is no such thing as gas, electricity and water boards anymore and they should not open their door to unexpected callers they do not recognise. Where possible, make a note of details such as vehicle registration and a description of the offender.
