NINE people were arrested across the county as part of Operation Guardian on Thursday 30 September, the Force's countywide crackdown on serious acquisitive crime - robbery, burglary and vehicle crime. Officers were out in Kettering and Northampton executing warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Warrants were executed at an address in Harcourt Street, which led to the recovery of several hundred pounds, and also at addresses in Judith Road, Highfield Road, Thorngate Street and Cobden Street. The arrests to date have been in Northampton, with a man and woman arrested on suspicion of drugs supply from an address at Northwood Road. A man was arrested for possession with intent to supply drugs at an address in Hopmeadow Court, from where small amounts of heroin and cannabis were recovered. Other warrants included addresses in Milton Street North, Randall Road and Crowthorpe Road but these proved negative. A warrant at Print Works led to the issue of a cannabis warning and a woman was arrested at an address in Axehead Road for possession with intent to supply drugs. A quantity of cannabis was recovered. Chief Constable Adrian Lee joined officers in Kettering on the warrants and police staff volunteers were also out and about in the town supporting the operation. This afternoon, officers in the east of Northampton will be distributing Lo Jack laptop tracking devices. Superintendent Pete Windridge, leading on Operation Guardian, said: "The tremendous feedback we received on the anniversary of the operation has been tremendously heartening and we are determined to keep the pressure on criminals whose actions inflict misery on decent law-abiding people. "We are all aware that times are going to be hard financially but there is a determination to keep up this impetus to help drive down crime, bring offenders to justice and make our communities better and safer places to live and work."

As you know, drugs are NEVER something we should turn our backs on. Drugs can be addictive, even cannabis and many people commit crime in order to get the cash to pay for drugs. There is also the side issue of dirty needles being left lying around the Semilong Community, as what happened recently when some were found outside Castle School.
For that reason, if you know anything about drugs in our community, please let the police know, let us know, or tell Crimestoppers.
This is an issue which must be tackled.
